Something Still Worth Saving
We are bruised, but we are breathing. We are bent, but we are brave.
About this anthem
Something Still Worth Saving does not ask you to feel better. It asks you to notice who is still doing the work: the teacher whispering that she is running dry and then turning to help a child read anyway.
This anthem counts the hundred small mercies that get overlooked because they don’t make the news: a mother leaving a lamp on for a son who has been gone, a nurse staying late again, the vote, the call, the meal, the ride. It does not pretend the damage isn’t real. It insists that hope is a practice, not a feeling, and that the people still practicing it are the reason a country stays worth fighting for.
It is featured on The Hope Set, Barking Justice Radio’s segment for working hope, scarred hope, hope with its sleeves rolled up. Where that block honors the people who keep showing up, organizing, teaching, and building even when the country feels broken, this song is the promise underneath it: hope is not the absence of pain, it is what people build after pain tells them to quit.

Lyrics
Verse 1 — The Ones Still Showing Up
I saw a woman at the counter set three things aside. She smiled like it didn’t hurt her, but I saw it in her eyes. I heard a teacher in the hallway whisper, I am running dry, then she turned and helped a child read like hope hadn’t said goodbye. There’s a man beside the flagpole with a letter in his hand. He gave more than they remember, now he’s asking where we stand.
Pre-Chorus
And it would be easy to give up the fight, call it too broken, call it too late tonight, but somewhere a neighbor is still doing good, saying hold on, hold on to the good.
Chorus – Still Worth Saving
There is something still worth saving under all this dust and pain. There is someone still worth reaching through the thunder and the rain. We are bruised, but we are breathing. We are bent, but we are brave. There is something still worth saving, and it’s not too late to save.
Verse 2 — What We Actually Need
No one needs a perfect sermon, no one needs another show. We need bread upon the table and a hand that says, I know. We need truth that does not tremble when the powerful complain. We need love with worn-out shoes on, walking out into the rain. There’s a mother by the window leaving one small lamp turned on, for a child who crossed a border, for a son who has been gone.
Pre-Chorus
And it would be easy to lock every door, say we have nothing to give anymore, but somewhere a child is still learning our name, and the world is still asking what we will reclaim.
Chorus — Still Worth Saving
There is something still worth saving under all this dust and pain. There is someone still worth reaching through the thunder and the rain. We are bruised, but we are breathing. We are bent, but we are brave. There is something still worth saving, and it’s not too late to save.
Bridge — A Hundred Little Mercies
Hope is not a song that lies to you. Hope is not a blindfold on your eyes. Hope is the tired heart rising when a stranger’s child cries. It’s the vote, the call, the meal, the ride, the witness at the door, the hundred little mercies that become a little more. It’s the old nurse staying late again, it’s the young one learning law, it’s the hand that reaches back for you when you thought nobody saw.
Final Chorus
There is something still worth saving in the country we can be. There is someone still worth holding, there is work that sets us free. We are bruised, but we are breathing. We are bent, but we are brave. There is something still worth saving, and it’s not too late to save.
Outro
Hold on. Hold on to the good. Hold on. Hold on to the good. Not too late. Not too late. Not too late to save. Hold on. Hold on to the good.
