Anthem · Barking Justice Music
Higher Ground
Where power protects itself, this anthem asks who lifts the ones it left behind.
About this anthem
Higher Ground names the bargain this country too often accepts: truth sold for silver, the poor traded for gold, and mansions built on stories no one stopped to hear.
But the anthem does not remain inside the indictment. It rises toward solidarity: Black and white together, hand in hand, moving not left or right, but forward. Its message is simple and demanding. Protecting those with the least power is not charity. It is the measure of whether justice is real.
Higher Ground is featured in Protect the Least of Us, the moral center of Barking Justice Radio’s Policy Becomes Harm reporting. That program asks what happens when laws, budgets, and public systems reach the people least able to resist their consequences.
This song offers the answer as a coalition call: we reach higher ground together, or we do not reach it at all.

Lyrics
Verse 1 — The Problem
They sell the truth for silver, they trade the poor for gold, building mansions on the ashes of the stories never told. A mother lifts her child, in the shadow of the flame, whispers to the heavens: will we ever change?
Chorus – the call
Take me higher, take me higher ground, where the lost are lifted and the least are found. Every chain is broken, every voice is sound, take me higher, take me higher ground.
Verse 2 — The Current Injustice
They call it law and order while the hungry fade away, the courts are blind to mercy, the workers underpaid. They dress their greed in power, they crown themselves in lies, but the rivers still remember, and the truth will rise.
Chorus — The Call
Take me higher, take me higher ground, where the lost are lifted and the least are found. Every chain is broken, every voice is sound, take me higher, take me higher ground.
Bridge — The Coalition Rising
Black and white together, hand in hand we stand, the rich man’s walls can’t stop us, we are stronger than his land. Not left, not right, but forward, where justice can be found, protect the least among us, on higher ground.
Final Chorus
Take me higher, take me higher ground. Where the lost are lifted and the least are found. Every chain is broken, every voice is sound, take me higher, take me higher ground.
Outro
Take me higher. Take me higher. Protect the least of us. Protect the least of us.
