All For the Taking: the Greed that consumes us

Greed wrote the rules. This song is the rebuttal.

About this anthem

All for the Taking names the mechanism most protest songs only imply: scarcity is rarely an accident. Someone writes the rules, someone collects the profit, and everyone else carries the cost through rising rent, delayed medicine, stagnant wages, and bills that never stop arriving.

But the anthem does not stop at naming who profits. It asks what remains when people refuse to let greed define the limits of their lives. The answer is what they already possess: the hands they hold, the neighbors they stand beside, the seeds they plant, and the strength they create together. Its turn from “all for the taking” to “not for the taking, but for the soul” is the anthem’s moral argument in eight words.

All for the Taking has earned Station Favorite status because greed is not a single story on Barking Justice Radio. It is the current running beneath nearly every block: the household damage followed by Policy Becomes Harm, the corruption exposed on The Reckoning Hour, and the refusal carried by Righteous Fire.

The anthem asks the question at the center of the station’s work: when everything has been priced, divided, and placed within someone else’s reach, what do we still possess that cannot be taken?

Its answer is each other.

Lyrics

Verse 1

They priced us out, left the gates slammed tight, dreams shrink down as costs takes flight. Lessons grow thin, and the medicine’s late, if you can’t afford it, you just have to wait.

They write the rules, they own the game, they change the law, but the cost causes pain. Bankers, bosses, the ones in suits, buying our lives while they tighten the noose.

Chorus

All for the taking, nothing to give. They buy us with power, we struggle to live. They sell us a future while destroying the past, paychecks erase what was meant to last.

Verse 22

The rich speak louder, their money buys might, while the working hands fade out of sight. They silence our voices, drown out our cries, while families break and the desperate die.

We are more than what they control, more than numbers, more than gold. Not just profits, not just debt, we are the love they fear to forget.

Bridge

They told us to fight each other while they took it all. Made us chase shadows, made us feel small. But power ain’t riches, it ain’t a throne, it’s the hands we hold, it’s the seeds we’ve sown.

Final Chorus

Not for the taking, but for the soul, not just the struggle, but making us whole. Give to your neighbor, stand with their loss, build something greater, no matter the cost.

Outro

We’ve had enough, can’t scrape by no more. Wages ain’t rising, but the bills sure soar. They push, we bend, they take, we bleed, but we ain’t got nothing left for them to feed.

Not tied to a single block. This anthem’s question, whether there is something more than greed, runs underneath the human cost on Policy Becomes Harm, the corruption named on The Reckoning Hour, and the refusal voiced on Righteous Fire.
