Protect the Least of Us
The moral test Barking Justice Radio puts to every law, every budget, every policy: does it protect the least of us?
About this anthem
Does it lift the weary? Does it heal the scar? Does it serve the people, whoever they are? That is the test this song puts to every law, every budget, every promise a nation makes.
Protect the Least of Us is a social justice protest anthem from Barking Justice Music, written in the soul-country ballad tradition, mournful and plainspoken, built for anyone who still believes freedom cannot stand on a house built with shackles in it.
This song is about who a country protects when someone has the least power to demand it: the patient without medicine, the worker without wages, the voter without a ballot, the child without a floor beneath them. It is the moral center of Protect the Least of Us, opening and closing every episode. Every story the segment tells, healthcare denied, prisons that profit, immigrants criminalized, disability dismissed, elders priced out of medicine, answers to the question this song asks first.

Lyrics
Verse 1 – The problem
They point their fingers at the broken and poor, closed clinics, built prison doors. They cut the wages, they steal the vote, drown our children while they stay afloat. They preach of freedom with shackles in hand, a house built on cruelty will never stand.
Pre-Chorus
No crown owns the morning. No throne owns the land. Power is only borrowed from the people’s hands.
Chorus – the moral call
Does it lift the weary, does it heal the scar? Does it serve the people, whoever they are? Every law, every promise, every one of us — must protect the least, must protect the least of us.
Verse 2 — Injustice and Immorality
They call it order while hunger spreads, pour wealth on the few, let the rest eat bread. They trade compassion for a lie on a stage, turn fear into fuel, turn truth into rage. But hope is a fire they cannot contain, a song in the street calls justice by name.
Chorus – The moral call
Does it lift the weary, does it heal the scar? Does it serve the people, whoever they are? Every law, every promise, every one of us — must protect the least, must protect the least of us.
Bridge — The Coalition Rising
Black hands, white hands, working side by side, the poor and forgotten, no longer denied. From the church house steps to the factory floor, we’re a fusion of voices they cannot ignore. Not left, not right, but a higher ground — the least shall rise, and the last be found.
Final Chorus — The Living Democracy
Does it lift the weary, does it heal the scar? Does it serve the people, whoever they are? Every law, every promise, every one of us — must protect the least, must protect the least of us.
Outro — The Call to Action
So let the silence shatter, let the courage grow, we are the river, let justice roll. No apathy here, no turning away, a living democracy is born today. Poverty is violence — eight hundred lives each day, silence is consent, and we refuse to look away. Draw together, rise together, act with courage, act with love, justice is the floor — but we’re reaching higher above.
Choir + Crowd Chant
Protect the least of us! Protect the least of us! This is our song, our fight, our stand, the people’s demand.
Spoken
Barking Justice Music… for every voice rising… we reach higher.
